Revised DS 3 unveiled

Citroen Racing has unveiled the revised DS 3 that Kris and his co-driver Paul Nagle will be campaigning from the next round of the World Rally Championship, the Rally de Portugal.

The new spec of car gets a heavily revised livery, with a darker front end and DS-style personalisation for the team’s drivers. Kris’s car will run a white roof from now on, while his team-mate Mads Ostberg’s will be grey and Khalid Al Qassimi’s will be red.

However, the most significant changes come in the body shape itself. Citroen Racing has reprofiled the front end of the DS 3, giving it sharper front wings that are designed to lower aerodynamic drag while increasing downforce. These tweaks follow the revised engine and rear wing that were introduced, along with a paddle-shift gearbox, at the start of this season.

‘Citroën Racing hasn’t stopped working on the development of DS 3 WRC since the current regulations were introduced in 2011,’ said Citroen Racing boss Yves Matton. ‘If you take the new features unveiled in January and this second batch, this is the most significant upgrade since the DS 3 WRC was first homologated.

‘The aerodynamic upgrades introduced here should help us to keep improving. Confirmed during wind tunnel and pre-event testing, the gains achieved in terms of drag coefficient and downforce are significant.’
