Kris fourth after Rally Mexico superspecial

Kris holds fourth overall after the opening superspecial on Rally Mexico, the third round of this year’s World Rally Championship.

The opening test was just over half a mile of slippery asphalt around the historical town of Guanajuato. Kris and his co-driver Paul Nagle brought their Citroen DS3 WRC through the test in 53.5sec, 0.6sec behind the fastest time set by reigning world champion Sebastien Ogier.

Ott Tanak was second fastest in his Ford, with Andreas Mikkelsen in third and Jari-Matti Latvala, who leads this year’s WRC standings after victory on the last round in Sweden, a further 0.2sec behind Kris.

The real action begins on high-altitude gravel stages on Friday (Mexico is six hours behind UK time). Kris set second fastest time in the pre-event shakedown but told, ‘This looks like the kind of rally where you serve your time and get your experience. That’s what I’m here for.’
